Any person or business accumulates gigabits of data on an annual basis.  This comes in different forms starting from wordprocessing documents to physical real time data being recorded from an application.

It is also known that hard-drives fail from time to time and therefore you need to ensure that adequate backups are being done.

In the event that no backup has recently been attempted and hardware failure is encountered, then most likely your hardware will not function properly.
